This site allows the user to perform a key word search of all the files in approximately 100 directories. This site contains about 15,000 data files produced by U.S. Government agencies. Some items available in this site that may be of interest include IRS tax forms and publications, whitehouse press releases, federal job announcements, weather satellite images, a Davis-Bacon database (fee basis), and various directories from the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

This site provides access to OSHA media releases, OSHA publications, information regarding OSHA programs and services, compliance assistance, answers to frequently asked questions, statistics and data standards. OSHA offers compliance assistance in the form of free consultation services as well as a voluntary protection program and even provides a listing of the most frequent violations and a search engine for determining industry specific violations. Statistical information is available regarding injury and illness incident rates. A safety and health statistics site provides information regarding injuries, illnesses and health care expenditures and tables that identify injuries and illnesses by stated characteristics. This site also provides hot links to related sites including developments in labor-management relations, employee benefits surveys, employment cost trends, compensation surveys and the Bureau of Labor Statistics Comp2000 survey results.

This site provides national labor data and statistics including employment, hours, and earnings data, unemployment rates, and consumer and producer pricing indexes on a regional or local basis, a summary of the major economic indicators for the previous year, publications, research papers and a keyword search engine. The site features a sophisticated data extraction system that will allow you to design your own search query complete with specified date ranges and output options.

The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide easy access to the statistics and information produced by more than 70 federal agencies.


U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census

Created by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, this site is an excellent source of social, demographic and economic information, current U.S. and world population counts, current economic indicators, press releases and news about census briefs, the latest economic indicators and upcoming events. The site is equipped with a search engine that allows you to search on-line documents and files by word and place and a graphical map search engine that goes to a national, state or county level and provides general as well as economic profiles. The site is also equipped with several access tools that will allow you to view census information or create your own extract files from the census data. The Censtat and Censtore sites provide access to electronic images of Census publications and reports and allow you to order Census Bureau products. Just for fun, the site uses an interactive approach to help you learn a little about statistical information and the access methods. The site is well-designed and easy to use for novice as well as experienced Internet users.

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) contains the text of public regulations issued by the agencies of the Federal Government. Proposed regulations and recently issued regulations can be found in the Federal Register. Created by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, this site supports word, concept, relate, dictionary and fuzzy searches of the CFRs. This site also provides links to other sites including the Federal Register, the United States Code (Statutes), Federal Court Decisions and Rulings, Treaties and International Law.


Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

This site provides access to various SEC publications related to investing, news, enforcement actions (ex. litigation, investor alerts, and insider trading), and SEC rulemaking and allows you to file complaints and ask questions. This site features access to the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval System (EDGAR), which performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by most entities required to file information with the SEC. You may search the EDGAR database for entities using a keyword search of the header information in the filings or the entities' Central Index Key and you may limit your search to specific filings. This site also features a page dedicated to Small Businesses that includes answers to frequently asked questions and information regarding small business initiatives. This page also provides hot links to the U.S. Business Advisor and the Small Business Administration Web sites.

A nonprofit organization prepares this site. The site provides information about tax news, feature articles, statistics, and discussion groups available to subscribers and nonsubscribers. The tax notes newswire is updated daily. The subscription area "TaxBase" provides coverage of the latest tax legislation; policies for international, federal and state issues; and a tax research library. The discussion group section provides links to 22 different tax discussion groups ranging in topics form estate planning to farms. Each discussion group also has an archive section for past questions and answers.

The Library Services and Research Tools links provide easy access to various databases and other Library of Congress Internet resources. Other links provide historical information which may provide valuable material for students and educators.

This site was developed by the Office of Law Revision Counsel. The mission of this site is to provide free public access to the basic documents of U.S. law. The site provides full text searchable copies of the United States Code and the Code of Federal Regulations as noted above in the government summary section. The site has also organized thousands of Internet law resources by subject and jurisdiction.
